All of us are qualified and accredited by nationally recognised training bodies, usually UKCP and BACP. Some of us are in the final stages of training. We are bound by the ethical codes of conduct of our accrediting bodies. We all work with individuals and some of us also work with couples and facilitate groups.
Therapists at Green Park Rooms have experience of working with a range of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, stress, phobia, panic attacks, post-traumatic symptoms, and bereavement. Some therapists may have further special interests and experience in working with difficulties like eating disorders, Asperger's and sexual abuse. If you are looking for something in particular it is worth enquiring when you make contact.
Who would be best for you?
On the practitioners page you will find a list of all the practitioners working at Green Park Rooms. As well as a brief description of each counsellor and therapist you will also find contact details and information about what days each person practises at Green Park Rooms, and other times and locations they can be seen in Bath and the surrounding area. You can get some idea of whether someone will suit you by their write-up but the best way to find out is at an initial meeting where you can get a feel for how they work and whether you can work with them. The therapist or counsellor may charge for the initial meeting, some don't, so check this out when you call.
Is Psychotherapy for you?
The most likely circumstance which may lead you to entertain the idea of psychotherapy is finding that your journey through life seems blocked or even derailed. At such times your emotional response is likely to be a mixture of anxiety, frustration and depression, perhaps also a feeling of helplessness as your familiar worldview is shaken up.
At such times you need to make sense of these feelings and emotions. This can mean re-discovering yourself, finding new or forgotten strengths, and relinquishing some old ways of being, which may have lost their original usefulness. Meetings with a psychotherapist can be helpful at such times because s/he will provide a safe space where you can begin to explore some of these issues.
